West Shore RCMP has issued some shopping safety tips.

“With the holiday season arriving, you have probably been busy shopping for the perfect gift in stores and online. Keep your gifts safe by securing them inside your home as soon as possible,” says Cpl. Nancy Saggar, Media Relations Officer, West Shore RCMP.

Around the holiday season West Shore RCMP typically receives more complaints of theft from motor vehicles.

“Sure enough, in November 2024 we have received 17 reports of theft from parked vehicles as compared to 13 reports of the same nature in October,” says Saggar.

West Shore RCMP reminds local residents to bring their deliveries and merchandise inside immediately upon arriving home.

“Don’t leave packages in your car or front porch. If possible, schedule deliveries for when you are home to receive them and store items in your trunk when you’re out shopping.”
