Some residents in the area are concerned about how their representation will change given new riding boundaries. It seems suddenly a riding that is spread far and wide, perhaps with Sooke at its core.

With a geographical footprint of 3,116 sq km, Juan de Fuca-Malahat is one of the largest ridings on Vancouver Island. The newly-boundaried riding encompasses a wide swath of the south to central island from west east, including from East Sooke to Port Renfrew to Cobble Hill, Metchosin, and many points in between including Sooke and Otter Point.

Organized by Sooke Chamber and Sooke Multi-Belief Initiative:

This all candidates meeting set the tone of informing potential voters, not hearing them clash or bicker. However, professional candidates know how to point out the flaws in another’s platform without being unfair.

Ideally, all events such as this are an opportunity for candidates to express their views, directions and intentions and be an opportunity to find out what the candidates’ positions are on key issues.

The Sooke Multi-Belief Initiative is led by local resident Koshin Sifu Moonfist. The executive director of the Sooke Region Chamber of Commerce is Deb Schenk.
