Your 28-day voter’s guide for BC Election 2024

Today Langford-Highlands BC NDP candidate Ravi Parmar held a meet-and-greet at a local coffee shop in Langford.

People dropped in at Poncho’s Cafe to say hello and to ask Parmar about various issues like housing and health-care.

This is now Day 14 of the 28-day campaign. It’s good for any candidate to be seen in the community in a general setting.

Parmar is out door-knocking every day. He and his team have dropped flyers or met residents in every zone of Langford and they’ve called every Highlands voter by phone.

Out in the community Parmar hears input on health-care (doctor shortage is minimizing but not fast enough), child care (cost and availability), the cost of rent, transportation challenges, and that many seniors are still working past age 65.

Big shoes, more road to travel:

He feels it may be a bit of a disadvantage that he has ‘big shoes to fill’ after the MLA for Langford being former Premier John Horgan.

Now under Premier David Eby, Parmar has been the Parliamentary Secretary for International Credentials (within the Ministry of Education and Child Care). He’s hoping for re-election as the MLA for Langford-Highlands so that he can continue his working serving people’s needs in BC.

Parmar says he’s not taking a win for granted. He’s working hard to earn every vote as the BC NDP candidate. He still takes a west shore focus, after collaborating for so many years (first as SD62 board chair and then as Langford-Juan de Fuca MLA) with the former MLA for Esquimalt-Metchsin, Mitzi Dean.

Parmar will hold another meet-and-greet at Poncho’s Cafe (755 Goldstream Ave) on Saturday October 12 in the morning (9:30 am to 11:30 am). There is no fee to attend.
