Tonight is the much anticipated moment of the Christmas season in Langford… the Christmas tree lightup at Veterans Memorial Park!
The City of Langford has launched its 2023 Winter Festival activity program. Whether you enjoy the sparkle of holiday lights throughout the City, partaking in festive activities with friends, or capturing the ultimate family holiday photo, there is something for everyone this season in Langford.
From 5 to 8 pm will be a holiday market, musical performances by DJ Oz and The Bright Side, cookie decorating, balloon artist, face painting, free hot dogs and hot chocolate (while supplies last), with the tree lightup as a highlight!
Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive at 5:15 pm on the Langford Firetruck and be available for photos and visits until 7 pm.
The Langford tree lighting will take place at 7:15 pm, and around 7:30 pm the IEOA Truck Parade will pass through Langford with its decorate trucks all festively lit.
The annual Langford Light Up tonight marks the official beginning of the holiday season in Langford, even though festive lighting has been up on trees and boulevards around town for a few weeks now — something Langford takes great pride in.
Langford Station – today 3 to 7 pm:
Also on today are Winter Festival activities at The Langford Station Arts and Cultural District (720 Station Avenue).
Beginning at 3 pm at The Langford Station, there will be kids’ crafts, an ice carving demonstration, performances by PACE Musical Theatre, Ablaze Choir, Westshore Community Band and Pacific Edge Chorus, food trucks, a holiday market, local retailers and much more.
Winter Festival through most of December:
Additional Langford Winter Festival activities include Wreath Making Crafternoons (registration required), the Tinsel Gazebo, free teen winter ice and roller skating for SD62 students, Horse and Carriage tours (registration required), live ice carving demonstrations, and outdoor ice skating.
New for 2023 is the Stuff the Trolley Event in support of the Goldstream Foodbank and other local charitable organizations. Throughout December, the Langford Trolley will be at various locations in Langford, collecting donations of non-perishable food items, toys, cash, warm clothes, or blankets for those in our community who could use a helping hand.
Winter Festival options are many! Through most of December, enjoy roaming carol singers, carriage rides (Dec 3 to 23), youth roller and ice skating events, live ice carvings (Dec 2, 10 and 17), ice skating at City Centre Park, and wreath-making classes.
