THE TECHNICAL ISSUES SEEM TO HAVE RESOLVED BY MORNING OF JUNE 17, 2923 (see Tweets from TD Canada Trust at the bottom of this article)

Today some TD Bank customers may be experiencing problems accessing funds that they’ve deposited at TD branch ATMs.

There was no notification of that at the ATM.

But the on-screen Service Interruption notice in web-banking reads: “Please be advised that some Direct Deposits are delayed. We are working to ensure the deposits are made to your account as quickly as possible.”

TD Canada Trust District Vice President for Vancouver Island, Bruce Gray, says the bank is aware of the problem. Based on a Tweet by TD Canada Trust around 11 am this morning (Pacific Daylight Time), the problem appears to be national in scope.

Gray has provided these comments to Island Social Trends:

  • We’re aware of an issue causing delayed direct deposit payments to some customers.
  • We apologize for the inconvenience and are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
  • We’d like to assure customers that any fees incurred due to missing direct deposits will be refunded once the issue is resolved.
  • We thank our customers for their patience and understanding.

However, if funds aren’t available for transacting bill payments or e-transfers, that could cause ripple effects for customers.

ATMs and web-banking are types of retail service that customers rely on daily for transactions not only large and small but also many of those being time-dependent.

Also some debit card troubles:

One of our readers on Twitter has said there is also some interruption of debit cards.

We are still awaiting more technical details from the TD Canada Trust head office tech team. It’s unknown whether the issues were software related, human-error during a software update, or other issue. [Update June 17 — apparently there was a ‘backend software issue’ — which could mean any number of things.]

Resolved on Saturday morning:

TD Canada Trust posted on Twitter around 8:40 am PDT that the web-banking and deposit transaction issues have been resolved.

“The technical issues that impacted some of our customers yesterday, primarily in Western provinces, have been resolved. Our customers should now have full access to most bank services, including delayed direct deposits.”

“We know that some customers experienced significant stress and we sincerely apologize for this experience. We understand the importance of being able to use banking services wherever and whenever customers want and we will continue to work with individual customers that require additional support. Please be assured that any customers who have incurred a TD NSF or Pay As You Go overdraft fee will be reimbursed. Customers should visit their local branch or contact us at 1-866-222-3456 if they require support depending on their unique circumstances.”
