The Premier has remarked a few times in recent weeks and months that the job of being an MLA is not an easy one. The hours are long and the strain on families is real.
The first active sitting of the 43rd BC Parliament started yesterday, February 19 (preceded by the Throne Speech the day before).
The BC Legislative Assembly is following this sitting schedule for the first session in February to May 2025:
| Monday: | 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon, 1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. |
| Tuesday: | 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon, 1:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. |
| Wednesday: | 1:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. |
| Thursday: | 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon, 1:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. |
After a summer break where MLAs are expected to get out into their constituencies to meet residents and learn more about organizations and groups who serve the community, there will be two more months in the House (October and November) before year end.
Pretty much all of the sittings in the main chamber as well as committees in separate rooms can be watched live on the BC Legislative and Broadcasting webpage. Hansard also broadcasts on television (cable channel 119 in Victoria).
