One day ahead of the Pacific Football Club (Pacific FC) home game against York9 FC from Toronto, the Vancouver Island team that plays out of Westhills Statdium in Langford has signed a new midfielder.

Adding 24-year-old Panamanian Alexander González to the roster comes as a way to boost the young Pacific FC team that has good passing technique but so far this inaugural season is struggling to produce goals on the field.

González will be active on the team after tomorrow’s Saturday May 18 home game versus York9 FC, said Pacific FC organizers today.

González arrives from Panama’s Plaza Amador, where he made 31 appearances in the 2018-19 season, amassing 2,663 minutes. The defensive midfielder has made a number of stops in his career, including stints with Jaguares de Cordoba FC, Aragua FC and Alianza FC. He was also a member of Panama’s U-20 and U-17 national teams.

“We are happy that we could convince Alexander to join PFC,” said Michael Silberbauer, Pacific FC Head Coach. “He is still a young player but has already some experience that we believe can help our team grow even further.“

González also brings CONCACAF Champions League experience from his 2013-14 season with Sporting San Miguelito and 2016-17 season with Plaza Amador to his new club.

“Alexander is only 24-years-old and comes with great experience,” said Rob Friend, Pacific FC CEO. “He has played over 80 professional games, including CONCACAF Champions League games. He’s caught the attention of a few MLS teams, so we are very fortunate to have secured such an exciting player.”

González joins 20 players who have been named to Pacific FC’s roster, including Marcel de Jong, Marcus Haber, Kadin Chung, Mark Village, Émile Legault, Nolan Wirth, Ben Fisk, Victor Blasco, José Hernandez, Matthew Baldisimo, Terran Campbell, Noah Verhoeven, Alessandro Hojabrpour, Hendrik Starostzik, Lukas MacNaughton, Blake Smith, Ryan McCurdy, Issey Nakajima-Farran, Ahmed Alghamdi and Zach Verhoven.
